Check the straw

The first point to keep in mind is that every straw like Shantung or Baku can absorb water and is therefore easy to wash.

Remove all floral elements, wires, trinkets and ribbons from the hat. Use only lukewarm soapy water and a cloth to rub in the straw.

Rinse with lukewarm water

Use the cloth to rub the straw hat. Make sure the cloth has wrung out after submerging it in warm water.

Block the straws while they are still wet

Place the straw hat over a shape that resembles the hat shape or above a hat block. After drying the hat, apply a layer of straw. The size should match the color of the hat when the straw is colored. This also helps in renewing the faded straw. Alternatively, the bulky hat can also be steamed. The steam from the kettle can also be used by placing it over the hat to reshape it.

If you like, dye the straw

Different dyes of a different color can be used to change the color of the straw hat. The same dye can be used to restore the same color of the hat.
